Bright Cow Jersey Milk Q & A

Answers to some frequently asked questions about fresh milk

Q: What are we selling?

A: We are selling fresh pasteurized milk that had went through the homogenization & pasteurization process that makes it safe for direct consumption. We imported our cows from Australia to uphold our fresh promises as all processes were being done locally.

We ensure high hygiene standards within our farm. We machine milk the cows and the milk is immediately chilled to below 4 degrees within 15mins and the milk is then transported in a chilled environment at all times to ensure the quality of the milk.

Q: What is pasteurization?

A: A heating process, which destroys pathogenic bacteria and enzymes that could cause spoilage of the product and affected public health concern. By destroying these microorganisms, the product becomes safer for public consumption. This process also prolonged the shelf life of the milk.

Q: What is homogenization?

A: This process breaks the fat globules into smaller particles and prevents the cream from rising to the top. This makes the milk homogenous with no separation

Q: What are the benefits of Bright Cow milk?

A: Bright Cow milk does not undergo Ultra High Processing Temperature Process (UHT) that typically degrade several nutrient contents in milk. Hence, our milk retains higher nutrient level including (vitamins, minerals, enzymes, beneficial bacteria, and antibodies), which helps build immunity especially in children

Q: Is the milk low fat?

A: No. For the volume of milk we consume, it is rather harmless to consume full cream milk. We should instead reduce our intake of animal fats.

Q: How long will the milk keep?

A: 4-5 days from milking.

Q: Is the milk safe?

A: Yes. Our cows are machine milked and not manually milked. We have a very hygienic and enclosed machine milking system. Within minutes of milking, the milk is chilled down to below 4°C, undergoes pasteurization before filled into bottles. The milk has to be constantly kept below 4°C to prevent spoilage. Quality controls are carried out for every batch of milking.

Q: I am lactose intolerant, can I drink raw milk?

A: People with lactose intolerance lack the enzyme, beta-galactosidase or lactase, to break down lactose into glucose and galactose during digestion. All milk, raw or pasteurized, contains lactose and can cause lactose intolerance in sensitive individuals.

Q: Is it suitable for infants?

A: Recommended to start the milk with children above 18 months.

Q: What are the cows fed?

A: The cows are fed with a ration of alfalfa, rice straw, and supplements. We imported alfalfa all the way from California and local grass straw from Kuala Selangor.

Q: Are the cows injected with hormones?

A: No.

Q: Do you use antibiotics?

A: We only use antibiotics to treat cows that are ill. While on treatment and for a period of time post administration of antibiotics, these cows are milked separately and the milk is discarded
